As you might have guessed, the most compromised eight-character password isn’t a complex jumble of characters; it’s the disarmingly simple “password”. The most compromised 15-character password is a fairly complex mix of upper and lower case and even includes a special character, “Sym_newhireOEIE.” 

Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, does it? 

The challenge isn’t limited to individual users. Businesses, including yours, are highly susceptible. An alarming 86% of all cyber attacks start with stolen usernames and passwords. That’s nearly nine out of ten attacks.  

The question is, can you afford to remain complacent? 

Absolutely, longer passwords do put up a more robust defence against brute-force cracking. For instance, an eight-character password can be cracked (guessed) in a mere five minutes, while a well-constructed 15-character password could withstand a staggering 37 million years of cracking attempts if it’s genuinely random and contains no discernible pattern.  

Now, you have to agree; that’s impressive. 

However, it’s crucial to remember that password length and complexity is just one piece of the password security puzzle. A strong password alone won’t protect you from the danger of stolen credentials through phishing attacks.
